About The Position
Upwind is a next-generation Cloud Security Platform that leverages runtime context to identify and prioritize critical risks, providing precise insights and efficient cloud security management. Unlike traditional tools, Upwind uses runtime data proactively for risk prioritization and posture insights, ensuring teams focus on what truly matters. With industry-leading efficiency and eBPF-powered sensors, Upwind delivers comprehensive capabilities - including agentless cloud posture discovery, real-time threat protection, and integrated API security. We're in a period of significant growth. There's an enormous amount to build, improve, and shape - and every hire changes the trajectory of the company.
We're looking for a Content Writer to be the voice of Upwind: blogs, technical deep-dives, threat research write-ups, website copy, campaign assets, and the content that gets Upwind cited when buyers ask AI assistants about cloud security. You'll turn complex runtime and cloud security concepts into content that security engineers respect and CISOs act on.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You won't wait for a perfect brief. You'll interview the researcher, write the draft, publish it, see how it performs, and make the next piece better. You'll report to the Head of Content and work day-to-day with Product Marketing, Growth, Design, Threat Research, and Sales. It's an individual contributor role today, with room to grow as the content function scales.
We work AI-natively. We expect you to reach for AI tools by default to research, outline, draft, edit, and repurpose content at a pace that would have needed a team of five two years ago, while keeping a voice that's sharp, accurate, and human.
What You'll Do
- Own the content engine. Plan, write, and publish a steady flow of blogs, technical articles, guides, eBooks, and whitepapers on cloud security, runtime protection, CNAPP, Kubernetes, and API security.
- Translate deep tech into clear stories. Work closely with our researchers, engineers, and product team to turn technical findings, product launches, and threat research into content that's accurate, readable, and worth sharing.
- Write for the full funnel. Partner with Growth and Product Marketing on landing pages, website copy, email nurtures, ads, case studies, and sales enablement assets. Every piece should have a job and a goal.
- Own organic and AI visibility. Write and optimize content for SEO and LLM citation, so Upwind shows up when security engineers and CISOs search Google or ask AI assistants about cloud security.
- Keep the voice consistent. Shape and protect Upwind's tone across every channel, from a LinkedIn post to a 20-page report.
- Build an AI-native content workflow. Use AI tools across research, drafting, editing, and repurposing so one strong idea becomes a blog, a social thread, a webinar script, and a sales one-pager.
- Measure what matters. Track how content performs on traffic, engagement, rankings, and pipeline influence, and use that data to decide what to write next.
- Stay close to the buyer. Talk with Sales and customers, understand the questions security teams ask, and write content that answers them better than anyone else.
Requirements
- 3+ years of content writing or content marketing experience at a B2B SaaS company. Cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, or DevOps strongly preferred.
- Native-level English, written and verbal. You write copy that a US security buyer takes seriously, and your editing is clean and precise.
- Technical fluency. You're comfortable with concepts like cloud environments, containers, Kubernetes, vulnerabilities, and threat detection, and you can learn new ones fast enough to interview an engineer and write about it accurately.
- A portfolio that proves it. Published B2B tech content you can point to, ideally including technical deep-dives as well as marketing copy.
- SEO and LLM optimization know-how. You understand how organic discovery works today and are actively figuring out how it works in an AI-first world.
- Data-minded. You track how your content performs and use what you learn to improve the next piece.
- AI-native by default. You already use AI tools throughout your writing workflow and know how to get speed from them without losing quality or voice.
- Strong collaborator. You can pull insights out of busy engineers, take feedback without ego, and push back when something isn't clear.
- A self-starter who ships. High motivation, fast learner, comfortable with ambiguity, and biased toward getting things done in a fast-moving startup.
