About The Position
Upwind is a next-generation Cloud Security Platform that leverages runtime context to identify and prioritize critical risks, helping security teams focus on what truly matters. With eBPF-powered sensors, agentless cloud posture capabilities, real-time threat protection, code security, and AI security, Upwind provides a unified approach to protecting modern cloud environments.
We are looking for an experienced Product Designer to join our Product Experience team and help shape complex, technical security products used by security, cloud, and engineering teams.
This role is ideal for a designer who enjoys diving into complex domains, understanding technical concepts and workflows, and turning them into clear, intuitive, and scalable product experiences. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, customers, and the broader design team — owning projects from early discovery and problem definition through design, implementation, and post-launch iteration.
Experience designing cybersecurity, developer tools, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, code-related products, or other complex B2B technical platforms is a strong advantage.
Responsibilities
- Own End-to-End Product Design: Lead design initiatives from problem definition and discovery through UX strategy, detailed interaction design, implementation, and post-launch iteration.
- Simplify Complex Technical Workflows: Translate complex security, cloud, code, data, and infrastructure concepts into intuitive and scalable user experiences.
- Partner with Product & Engineering: Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers to understand problems, challenge assumptions, shape requirements, and define the right product experience.
- Drive Customer-Centered Design: Engage directly with customers through interviews, usability testing, design reviews, and feedback sessions to validate decisions and uncover real user needs.
- Use Data to Improve the Product: Leverage product data, customer feedback, and usage patterns to evaluate released experiences, identify opportunities, and continuously improve the product.
- Build Consistent Platform Experiences: Contribute to and evolve Upwind’s design system and UX patterns, ensuring consistency across a broad and growing product platform.
- Partner Through Implementation: Work closely with Engineering throughout development, from design handoff through QA and release, ensuring a high-quality implementation.
- Leverage AI in the Design Process: Use AI tools to accelerate research, exploration, prototyping, content creation, and product thinking, and continuously explore new ways AI can improve the design workflow.
- Raise the Design Bar: Bring strong product thinking, craft, and design judgment to critiques and discussions, helping elevate the overall quality of Upwind’s product experience.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience as a Product Designer, ideally working on complex B2B or enterprise products.
- A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product design, complex workflows, information architecture, and thoughtful interaction design — not just visual execution.
- Proven ability to independently lead complex design projects, from ambiguous problems and early exploration through shipped solutions.
- Strong UX and product thinking, with the ability to understand complex systems and turn them into simple, clear, and effective experiences.
- Experience working closely with Product and Engineering teams in a fast-paced product environment.
- Strong proficiency in Figma and experience working with and contributing to design systems.
- Experience conducting customer research, usability testing, and translating insights into product decisions.
- Hands-on experience using AI tools as part of the design workflow — for research, exploration, prototyping, content generation, or accelerating design and product thinking.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate the reasoning behind design decisions.
- Experience in cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, developer tools, DevOps, code security, or other highly technical products is a strong advantage.
- Technical curiosity and a strong AI mindset, with the ability to quickly learn new concepts, terminology, workflows, and user personas, and adopt new tools and ways of working.
