Today, I’m excited to announce that Upwind has acquired Nyx Security, a breakthrough startup specializing in real-time application-layer threat detection. This marks Upwind’s first acquisition – and a major leap forward in delivering end-to-end cloud security across both the infrastructure and the applications running on top of it.

Application-Layer Runtime Changes Everything

Runtime threats are complex and exploits don’t care where posture ends and code begins. Real protection demands a unified view of what’s actually running and being executed, in real time.

With the acquisition of Nyx, we’re bringing that unified view to life. Nyx’s application-layer technology tracks which functions are truly executing in memory – allowing detection of exploited vulnerabilities and behavioral anomalies at the moment they occur with surgical precision.

  • Application Detection & Response (ADR): Pinpoint function-level activity during runtime
  • Deeper Behavioral Anomaly Detection: Catch code doing what it shouldn’t – when it counts
  • No Added Complexity: Using the same runtime sensor, Upwind will continue to offer enhanced, unified visibility across infrastructure and application layers

This expands Upwind’s real-time security engine into the application execution layer – an often overlooked territory – without adding new tools or overhead to your stack.

Upwind + Nyx

True cloud security platform requires understanding the complex interplay between cloud infrastructure and the applications running on it. The acquisition of Nyx Security cements Upwind’s leadership in full-stack runtime security.

Six men in matching t-shirts sit and smile in a modern office, with a small dog on one person’s lap. They are seated on a couch and bench, with a large plant and natural light coming from the left.

Founded in 2024 by cybersecurity veterans Gili Yankovich and Alon Saban, Nyx brings deep expertise in embedded systems, application-layer analysis, and low-level threat detection. Their vision for next-generation runtime defense perfectly complements Upwind’s platform – creating a new standard for protecting cloud-native environments. Building on Upwind’s leading capabilities in cloud runtime security, we are now uniquely equipped to provide holistic, future-proof protection for modern cloud-native workloads and applications.

We’re on a mission to build the best cloud security platform on earth.

With this acquisition, Upwind is now the first cloud security platform to fully unify runtime visibility across infrastructure and application layers in live cloud environments. We’re building for the real world – solving the more critical issues customers are facing, in one unified, powerful platform.

Stay tuned for what’s next – this is only the beginning.

Up & Up!

Back to building, Amiram.

No npm Token Required: Inside the AsyncAPI Supply Chain Attack

Executive Summary Upwind identified a critical supply chain compromise across five npm packages in the @asyncapi scope, published on July 14, 2026 via two separate branch compromises in two GitHub repositories. The attacker never touched an npm token. They abused each project's own CI pipeline through GitHub Actions OIDC to publish the malicious packages. The…

AI Proves the Real Bottleneck Was Never Finding Vulnerabilities

Let this sink in: finding security vulnerabilities was never the bottleneck, vulnerability prioritization was. AI-scale discovery is about to make that impossible to ignore, and the teams that see it coming will pull ahead of the rest. Here's what kept me up this week. Anthropic ran a frontier model against some of the world's most…
SBOM for VM

Upwind gives you SBOM coverage across every cloud workload

Software supply chain risk doesn't stop at the container boundary. Most organizations still run a meaningful share of production workloads on virtual machines across legacy services, data pipelines, and infrastructure that was never containerized. The Upwind Platform creates SBOMs at runtime, delivering greater accuracy than build-time tools by continuously monitoring your live environment. Format adds…
